Supervisory Series:

Effective Supervision Workshop
This two-day program is the core course in the On Target Supervisory Series. This program explores the critical supervisory skills necessary to successfully leading and managing a work group. By the end of the session, participants will understand their role as leader, communicator and coach. This is a hands-on, fast paced program that presents key concepts in an interesting manner and offers participants an opportunity to practice the critical skills presented during the session. (Optional: Pre-session individual assessments are available for this session.)

Interviewing and Selecting Employees
This program is offered in a workshop format and asks participants to plan and conduct an interview during the session. Participants begin the session by working through the four components of the interview preplanning process. Next, they learn how to: 1) use three questioning techniques; 2) maintain control of the interview; 3) assess the qualifications of each applicant; and 4) make a good hiring decision. Also included in this session is an overview of the laws that impact the recruitment process, a supplement with over 200 interview questions, and a quick reference guide.

Performance Appraisal
The objective of this program is to teach supervisors and managers how to effectively coach and guide employees towards higher levels of performance. Participants learn to identify performance expectations, construct performance expectation statements and communicate these to the individual employee. (Optional: Performance Evaluation Forms designed by ON TARGET are available.)

Positive Discipline & Fair Treatment
This program provides specifics on how to discipline an employee who is exhibiting performance deficiencies and how to gain the employee’s commitment to making real behavior changes. Participants also learn about the five phases of behavioral change and how this can affect the success of the disciplinary action. (Optional: Pre-session individual assessments are available for this session.)

Problem Solving and Decision Making
This program guides participants through the process of recognizing their own decision making and problem solving behaviors. This program introduces the structured problem solving method and provides several tools for diagnosing root causes, generating solution options and evaluating options.

Recognizing and Rewarding Employees
Recognizing and rewarding employees is a critical supervisory skills that can create a positive team atmosphere and contribute to the overall success of both the individual employee and the entire work team. This program explores the many ways that employees can be recognized without breaking the departmental or organizational budget.

On Target Meetings

This one-day session helps participants understand the various types of meetings and presents the tools to plan and conduct each type of meeting. Participants also will gain a better understanding of meeting dynamics and how to address common problems often encountered in meetings. A shorter version of this program is available in a half day format.
